NEW MEMBER REFERRAL
A new member1 referral is an individual2 who establishes a primary membership + qualifying products with the credit union as a direct result of an existing member’s3 referral.
QUALIFYING PRODUCTS
A personal savings and checking account with debit card.
EXISTING MEMBER REFERRAL PROCESS
Complete an online referral form with their information as well as the information for the individual they are referring. The referred individual will receive a welcome email from the credit union with information about the products referred and how to establish membership with the credit union and/or apply online.
NEW MEMBER REFERRAL PROCESS
Referred individual continues the process by establishing their membership one of two ways:
- Applying Online
- Visiting a credit union branch
New member must open all qualifying products in order for BOTH parties to earn their reward.
- Existing members will receive $25 referral reward, plus an entry into the giveaway
- New Members will receive a new account opening gift valued at $50 and the chance to refer their friends
ACCOUNT CREDIT
Existing member will receive their referral reward, deposited into their CU Hawaii savings account, within 5-7 business days after referred member establishes their account.

1“New Member” refers to primary account ownership for first account opened with the credit union under individuals SSN. Additional accounts opened will not be eligible for the Reward. If the savings account is closed within 90 days, early account closure fees apply.
2Individual must be a new primary member to CU Hawaii FCU at the time of account opening and qualify under CU Hawaii’s field of membership. Previous members are not be eligible for referral. Members under 18 years of age require parental consent.
3Existing member must have their own primary membership and be in good standing. Must be 18 years of age to participate.
One New Account opening gift per New Member who opens a savings and checking account with a debit card. All products must be requested upon account opening. The opening gift will be delivered to the new primary member after the products have been opened.
Membership is subject to eligibility verification, a minimum opening deposit of $50.00 and a non-refundable $1.00 fee to establish membership. A minimum of $100 is required to earn the stated APY. All new accounts are subject to account opening procedures, Truth-in-Savings, membership terms, disclosures and fee schedule. Membership with the Credit Union is open to all who live, work, worship, attend school, volunteer or participate in associations headquartered on Hawai’i Island.
Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for a savings account is 0.05% as of February 1, 2024, is subject to change. A minimum of $100.00 is required to earn the stated APY. Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for a checking account is 0.00% as of February 1, 2024, is subject to change.
