Our Story
The spirit of Hawai’i Island is the spirit of possibility. We believe good things happen, and when we work together with intention, they most certainly can and do. We are passionate about seeing our members succeed. Every day, we exude friendliness and pursue optimism, letting our hearts drive us toward opportunities that make a difference in the lives of our members, our community and even the world. When you believe in what’s possible, anything is.
Our History
The credit union was organized and received its charter back in May of 1955 as the Big Island Businessmen’s Federal Credit Union. As the credit union grew we changed our charter to be a community credit union and our name evolved with us and we became known as JCC Federal Credit Union. Our continued growth into one of Hawai`i Island’s respected credit unions brought our final name change in June 2000. Further reflecting our vision for our members we are now known as CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union. Since that time our membership, assets, products, and services have grown making us the primary financial institution for many of our members.
